• Commercial Litigation--covers a broad spectrum. Examples include: employment discrimination claims, defense of fraud, TILA and consumer claims, labor and union suits, breach of contract suits, collections, claims by lending institutions, landlord and tenant matters, injunctions to enforce restrictive covenants, mortgage foreclosures, mechanics' lien foreclosures, enforcing employment contracts, corporate or partnership dissolutions, shareholder actions, real estate partition suits, and lawsuits for specific performance for the purchase of real estate.
• Business Organization--The form of business chosen for a business entity potentially affects every aspect of its operations. Our attorneys assist our commercial clients in deciding whether they want to operate as a sole proprietorship, limited liability company, partnership, or corporation. We advise our clients about directors' and officers' liability, dissolution, franchising, reorganization, trade association membership and activity, joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, business successions, and shareholders' rights. • Family Law--includes dissolution of marriage actions (divorce) as well as contested child custody cases, domestic violence matters, adoptions, paternity claims, post-judgment divorce proceedings, pre-nuptial agreements, will contests, guardianship estates and minor's estates.
• Personal Injury--cases include claims made for bodily injuries, wrongful death and property damage as the result of the negligence of someone else. Examples include: automobile accidents, motorcycle, train and airplane accidents, professional malpractice, dram shop actions (liquor liability), premises liability cases, work-related injuries, product liability claims, defamation claims, uninsured or underinsured motorist arbitrations, and related insurance issues.
• Municipal Law--includes the representation of municipal corporations and their commissions as well as the representation of individuals before municipal boards or commissions, including zoning and land use matters, disciplinary hearings, business and liquor license proceedings, and condemnation lawsuits.
• Civil Litigation--Our firm is knowledgeable and conscientious whenever it becomes necessary to engage in trials in all manner of civil cases. We provide a wide array of services to our business clients whenever disputes with customers or other businesses require vigorous courtroom advocacy. Our attorneys are admitted to practice in both state and federal courts and practice at the trial and appellate levels.
• Consumer Claims--We aggressively defend banks, insurance companies and agents, retailers, and other businesses and merchants that are subjected to lawsuits alleging misrepresentation or failure to deliver promised services to, or otherwise injure, their customers.
• Contracts--We negotiate and draft contracts in virtually all areas of civil law; litigate contract performance disputes; and we evaluate the appropriate remedies for breached contracts.
• Estate Planning--Our firm offers a variety of services for people who wish to plan in advance for the distribution of property upon their death, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, so that their property goes to the persons or charities that they wish, and their heirs pay the minimum possible tax.
• Probate and Estate Administration--Our practice includes Probate and Estate Administration. Probate is the legal process by which people's debts are paid and assets distributed after they die. Estate administration refers to the probate process as well as non-probate transfers of the deceased's assets, and includes will contests. State laws direct the probate court how to distribute the deceased's estate, so it is important to consult a firm with expertise in this area of the law.
• Labor Law--Labor law is a broad area of the law that covers the relationship between groups of employees organized into unions and employers, that is, management. • Alternative Dispute Resolution--Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is the process of resolving legal conflicts without going to trial. Our firm has substantial training and experience in arbitration and mediation. We counsel clients in determining when ADR is in their best interests and meets their needs better than traditional litigation, and on the legal consequences flowing from the use of each ADR option.
